Rage Against the Machine

We are pumped. Seriously pumped. I’ve been a big fan of Rage Against the Machine for ages, since their first record. Tommy Morello is incredible. (Incidentally, the Nightwatchman? Maybe not so much). Then, they broke up and Audioslave formed. That’s about as good a consolation gift as anyone can get: Cornell with Rage. Well, sadly -despite our best efforts – we never saw them before they broke up. Then, try as we might, we couldn’t get tickets to the Coachella festival either, where Rage was closing down the show. Well, we have our consolation prize: Rage in San Francisco in August.

Tommy Morello Guitar Lesson

Tommy Morello is arguably the best living guitarist; at least from a technical standpoint. I think he’s the best as far as technical skill goes and certainly as far as innovation in getting the guitar to make sounds and noises. There have been numerous times during his solos or riffs where my jaw has dropped in awe and I’ve thought, “Is that even a guitar?” Well, here’s a video of Tommy giving a nice lesson on his gear and on how to make some of the sounds. Apparently, all I need is a guitar with a toggle switch and then everything else will fall in place.
