Given the recent doping issues they've had with the Tour de France (real or perceived) I'm somewhat sympathetic to the stance of the APO. I don't imagine they want to end up in a situation like that of MLB where every record set since the early nineties is, essentially, marked with an asterisk. Also, while the drug testing is a rather large sacrifice of freedom, Boonen chose to be paid to be a billboard. There are plenty of vocations out there that won't place such onerous restrictions on your lifestyle.

Orthogonal to any of that "I drank too much in Belgium, where there's a lot of coke" ranks right up there with, "I tripped and my penis landed in her vagina" in the pantheon of improbable excuses.

Orthogonal to all of the above (we're up to, what, three dimensions here?) I imagine that night in Belgium to have gone something like this.

I have no idea if your comment system is going to strip out that HTML or not.
